Just bought my first mill. A Grizzly G3617. I am trying to figure out how to hold the spindle in place while I tighten or loosen the drawbar. I can hold the spindle by hand, but that doesnt seem like the right way to do it. The mill does not have a spindle lock on it.
Anyone know how to lock the spindle in place?
Thanks,
Scott...

I have a HM52 mill (Australian) I made a spanner that goes around the end of the spindle that has 2 resseses cut out for the int30 sqaure blocks to lock into.I think yours is R8.There is some info on the internet that use a plunger to go into the bottom of the spindle pulley to lock it.You could always modify a car filter wrench the type that has the sheet metal strap, shorten it and glue some rubber to the inside for now.Davo
Not sure if you have it sorted it out yet,but here are a few more ideas that I have just found and thought you may be interested in
