CRT Screen on knee mill going out

I've got accurite Millpower 2 axis controls.At boot up the digital readout is dim and within 1 hour you can't see it. The controls are 10 years old but other than what I have described it's a reliable machine. I depend on it every day. I know what accurite will say,exchange for crt for a repaired one.Does anyone else have any experience with this problem?Is it a matter of changing out a board.Thanks for any help
