Need a little help here. Project is an Asian 10x50 knee mill CNC conversion. (View orientation is standing in front and facing the machine.) The left side of the x-axis houses a pair of double deep groove bearings which serves to locate the x-axis. The right side houses a single bearing..inner race is a slip fit on the screw...supports the "free" end of the screw but allows for screw thermal expansion. Does it make any difference which side the x-axis servo is mounted? The right side would be easier but I'm concerned about side loading on the slip fit bearing. Scanning the pics here I see most are mounting the motors on the left side but some have opted for the right side. Any assistance would be appreciated. |
