    91 degrees???? You lucky dog

    Air conditioner, too

That sounds good. Maybe next year I'll have some air, too.

    Right now it's killer hot.

Dave, have you looked at the Mach3 site ?

It has some great info over there, too.

Everything is bio-degradable, if you run over it enough times with the lawnmower.

    Smile Retrofit on Hurco KM3P

Just about got the one cabinet cleaned out. Behind the relay panel
there is a isolation transformer 120 in 120 volts out. Might be a filter.
The back emf filter in the other cabinet has three sections to it. I think it is in the spindle 3 phase motor. Haven't got there yet. 12 volts will move
the X, Y & Z. for checking limits switches. I moved the table around today
If that filter is in the spindle motor only, it won't help on the servos. I will need help with steps per turn on the axes. Going to be a few weeks before I order parts. I live on 10 acres, so there is more to do than play. Done rambling.
Going to bed. It is midnight. Thanks for being here.

I have worked on the Hucro off & on. I am powering with 220 singal phase.
I am getting my 110 volts from the transformer. Better filtering ad less draw.
I turn it off & on with a contacter. Taken turns off the transformer to get 80 volts. Got a temporary panel on the computer side cabinet to power up the transformers. Got a bridge rectifier and capacitor mounted on the right
( computer ) cabinet side. What did you use for a bleeder resister on the capacitor? It will stay charged up for a long time. Going to mount the computer on the control head with monitor. I want to control everything from there. The main disconnect will always be on. Going to space a panel out about 5 or 6 " where the servo amp. was, to mount the servo drivers and bob there. Haven't posted any pix. yet. I am using Firefox, and I don't have any paper clip.
    Hope you can understand this.

    Dave,

I haven't put a bleed resistor on the power supply caps, yet.

For now when it gets shut down you can watch the LED"s in the Gecko drives glow for about 25 seconds. < I don't think this will hurt. If this is bad someone let me know.

Send me your pics Dave, and if you don't mind I'll post them on here for you.

The swing out door where the power supply was, is where I mounted my Geckos.

I know, I need to get some pics of mine on here.

There is so much work lately, I haven't touched the Hurco.

    e-mail me those pics, Dave.

    Just adding a picture.

It was 115*deg outside temp today. At 2:30 pm it was 126* in my shop.

Had to go in the house.

Here is a pic of the inside of my Hurco air control valve. If I can just spend a few minutes a day on the Hurco it makes me feel better.

The box is item #6 in the first pic:

    Retrofit on Hurco KM3P-hurco_air_4.jpg

You can see in this pic, the cover is removed. The scale is showing the air pressure at which the valve closes.

    Retrofit on Hurco KM3P-air_pressure_cut_switch.jpg

Nothing really impressive. Maybe this will help someone having problems with their air valve, or machine not coming on due to air problems.

    Dave,

You were telling me about how you were mounting your Geckos.

Here is a few pics of mine:

This is the swing out door that had the low voltage power supply mounted inside.

I have the Geckos mounted where the black X's are drawn.
    Retrofit on Hurco KM3P-swing_drive_plate_2_.jpg

The factory inlet fan on the cabinet door will blow directly on the Geckos.

Will get an updated pic with the Geckos mounted.

Another pic with the AMT encoder mounted:

    Retrofit on Hurco KM3P-hurco_amt_103_encoder_mounted.jpg

These weren't that hard to mount. I have read some horror stories of them breaking and slipping, & such.

Maybe, I just got lucky, or haven't ran them yet.

After running them for a while, they may give me fits, and I'll be looking at the articles that tell how to lock them better.

Here are some pics of inside the cabinet ( control side):

Close up of the fuses ( between power supply & Geckos).
    Retrofit on Hurco KM3P-fuses_mounted.jpg

Gecko's mounted on swing out panel. This is the panel that the Hurco power supply was mounted on. Later, I may put some heat sinks on the inside where the fan is blowing on it.

    The capacitors & rectifier.
    Retrofit on Hurco KM3P-capacitors_fuses.jpg

The cooling fan. I added this from Newegg computer accessories. It is a 120mm fan with 75?????cfm of flow.
    Retrofit on Hurco KM3P-cooling_fan.jpg

This shows how the mounting plate swings out.You can see the extra cooling fan behind it. This mounting plate come off of the hinges easily, in case I need to look at the Geckos close up or something.
    Retrofit on Hurco KM3P-hinged_mounting_board.jpg

This is the PMDX 126 board mounted. Not everything is hooked up. The #107 spindle control is also on there. You have to look close to see it.

    More to come.

    Jack,
Everything is looking good. I am mounting a aluminum panel spaced out
5 1/2 " from the back upper left hand corner where the old servo drivers were.
This is where i will mount the drivers and bob.
What size capacitor are you using on your 80 volt power supply? I am using the one off the original servo amp. What about fuses ? What size. You are ahead of me. It is good to see you are making progress. Thanks for the pictures. They really help.

    Dave,

    I'm using the factory capacitors x 2.

I had an extra set of servo amps and took the cap out of that set and added it.

The fuses are 12 amp slow blow.

Here is a link to the discussion on it:

    http://www.cnczone.com/forums/gecko_...ecko_320x.html

That is what made me decide to go with fuses.

Thanks for the good words, Dave.

I am starting to get more motivated. Our actual temperature here in NW Arkansas is 110 to 115 degrees.
