I have a 1984 Supermax YMC30. I upgraded it to a Centroid controller in 2015. The Mill is getting used often now and has developed a full .005 of backlash in the X table that we need to address. - I have input the backlash compensation on the software which helps, but want to get into the table and go thru it anyway

There is a steel-coil cover over the ball-screws. I cannot even see how that come off. I think I just remove a coil end from a slot and unwrap it?? Once done, remove the motor Assy on the left, the hand-wheel and nuts from the right. That is about where my knowledge ends. I assume I then simply slide the table off by going all the way to the left while supporting with my HF wheeled gantry, a trolly and chainfall ? Exposing the saddle and X-screw and lub system?

This is the only vid I could really find.

Anway, first time for everything. I need to get in there sooner than later. Any known Supermax table removal notes or time-saving tips welcome.

Thanks,
CG
