I posted this on another forum but I'm not getting much of a response there so I figured I'd try this machine specific forum.
A friend has an '86 Mycenter3 with a tape reader in the control.
He has 10 programs on tape that need to be reloaded into the control.
The tapes are breaking when he tries to run them through the reader, and he thinks it would be impossible to change the path that the tape follows to get them through 1 last time. I have not looked at it by I suspect there may be a way to ease the tapes through. There are still some broken tapes to deal with, though.
He has DNC capability now but never backed up the programs using DNC so here is what I'm considering;
1. a means of repairing the broken tapes so we can take another run at loading them using the built in tape reader (I've considered reparing them with tape like I've repaired cassette tapes in the past but am concerned about the repair balling up inside the reader)
2. if it exists a service that can read the tapes and provide them as text files so they can be DNCed (and saved)
Any thoughts or experience are greatly appreciated.
