    Port setup emergency!

    Hello,
We are trying to set up the computer using Kcam and Win2000. We're having trouble with figuring out the port, pin, bits. I can set something but then only the X axis to work or set a different way and only get the Y axis to work. Thanks in advance for any help, Stoene

I tried it but it didn't work, any other ideas out there?

    Hello Vladdy,
I tried your settings and they inputed ok but had no result. None of the output pins worked. I use the port view to see if anything is happening. Any ideas why nothing worked?
I got 2 axis to work using this hack set-up
    port pin bit
    X step H37A 1 0
    Xdirection H37A 16 2
    Ystep H37A 17 3
    Ydirection H37A 14 1

Any info is greatly appreciated, Stoene

You are probably better off rewiring from the parallel port to your controller cards, use either my example, or [probably better] the default setup in Kcam..

You are using the strobe and select lines [1 / 17] as well as the auto and init lines..

Better off using data lines 2 through 9 for step and direction control, and enable [if required]

In mine I used 2,4,6 for direction,
    and 3,5,7 for step input,
non inverted [or false] to indicate a postive pulse actuates..

try 'pin setup, and base lpt1 address of &H378

not that it won't work using your settings, but as 2 to 9 are output pins, and step / direction are output signals, I save the in/out ports for other thing like limit switches, or emergency stop buttons, etc..

    got it working

    Hello Vladdy,
Thanks for the info, I got the setup you suggested working. I'm not exactly sure what the problem was but it had to do with the OS. By going in and selecting lpt2 then back to lpt1 and also I went into bios and disabled serial ports it began working. Initially I could select H378 but it wouldn't work now it does. I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. But thanks again, your settings got it working. Stoene
