And here's a basic step by step guide.
How is a Part Made
I got a wild hair up my ass a while ago and decided to get a cnc router. I don't know diddly about how to run it either. It's a K2 5050 with exterior ball screws and running on mach 3. What can I do, aside from taking classes right now, to learn some basic things on getting started?
Any help is appreciated.
Chuck.

Got the thing running and actually did some engraving in wood. The vac slipped a little on the U. Was smaller piece of wood, so not enough area to hold it still.

Hello Chuck,
I have the same machine and several other CNC mills with the Mach 3 controller. I teach in High Schools as an advisor to their shop programs. I will put together a little tutorial kit for you over the coming weekend. I would also encourage you to check into the Tormach site. Do some digging around in their site and you will fine a lot of good information on programming the Mach 3 as well. The Mach 3 system gets customized a little by each manufacturer that adopts it as their controller software but most of the Tormach info applies. Have you been on the ArtSoft Mach 3 site? The manual is pretty good that they have on there as well but it is not as much entry level as the Tormach. I cannot post a URL but this is the document you want from ArtSoft. (machsupport.com/docs/Mach3Mill_1.84.pdf). If you private message me I can get you a few more items to work with.
