    Acme rod questions

    Hey all,

I'm going to order my acme rod today and have some questions running through my head. Which tread count works best for the "2006". Can different tread counts and starts be used for the different axis? I know the five start requires more torque, so should it be used for the z axis to lift the router? Is the added cost of 10 - five start worth the extra expense?

    Thanks in advance

    I agree.
You could get away with less on the Z, but its easier to just keep everything the same. Stepper motors have high torque at low speeds and like the higher pitch threads better. The efficiency of multistart screws is better, so another plus.
