    Ultimate 4x4 hybrid?

So, I plan to buy a set of plans and build a 4x4 with tax return money, (unless the govt. bounces me a check, lol)

I'm sure a lot of this is covered in the private forum, but, what bells and whistles or cool options/upgrades, etc. would you add to the basic build keeping in mind that it will be a semi production machine?

I use a small moosecreeksales machine that i tuned to do small carvings on cabinet doors, etc, for built ins that my company builds. The 4x4 is the next budget conscious step up for me.

    Thanks!!
    Darren

Add a "auto tool zero setter for the Z"
Another Aussie Auto Tool Zero Setter

Makes setting the Z quick, easy, and the same every time.

Also the xbox360 controller on the Mach3 forum is an cheap and easy way to jog your machine around and a few other functions.

thanks for the link. Lots of info there.
Man, over 100 views and 1 response...I was hoping for more.

I'm leaning very seriously towards the bladerunnersupermax4 combo...any one have any pros or cons to share?

Welding a steel table and top would be no problem, but I was really drawn to
Chris's torsion box cabinet and top. Do you think that type of construction would work as well?

Yes, a good wooden Base will work just as good as long as you have some sort of climate control. and as always with many machines any variances which can occur you can re machine the top for corrections. I resurfaced mine a total of three times onver a one year period, you can always add more MDF Glued to the existing and surface on top of that down the road. Mind you one of my resurfaces was when I moved and reassembled the machine.

We are still waiting for you to figure out which bit and feed rate to use to machine the 3/4" aluminum plate to make the aluminum carriages!
