Here is a quote that from a statement that Rob made, who bought the kit, and made a nice writeup on the kit.
"I wanted a good system this time, no choppers or uni-polar drives,bi-polar, no resonance issues, have opto-isolation, power to drive a bigger stepper, support that is great, forums to ask questions, and a person to talk with on phone when needed.
Gecko fit that picture perfectly. The g540 has all of the items. But I have stated the costs a number of time :
G540 $300 + shipping
570 oz-in steppers $76 each = $304 + shipping
Power Supply - Antek 50v 12 amp = $130 + shipping
Let's say $750./
Now I need a case, wires, homes witches, Big Red button, and build it. Let's say another $150 after all the shipping and farting around at 300 different websites to get the best deal.
Now we are at $900 and we still have to build it - (I know half the fun ) .
The CandCNC will be more but give me a pendant, relays, feedback, ability to add a 5th axis.
This is a chunk more than the HobbyPro kit or Xylotex, but I know that it will be quality."
