I have the 2006 files and would love to print the files out so I can start cutting etc. Tried the dwg files as well as the solid works files. I can see the parts in DWG but I see no dimensions? I have some dwg file viewer (free) In solid works, I see the completed part say the carrage..But see no individual parts lists or dimensions? I'm sure this is my newbie views on this software. Heck..I even tried sketchup...Seeing no dimensions again and no individual parts. Hmmm..Should this be a hint |

| You can download a free CAD program like A9CAD or ProgeCAD Smart and dimension them yourself.

Not sure what you mean by dimension them myself. What I want to see is the size of part a..holes need to be xx inches from etc etc. Like a bluprint say. Like I said, I can see the parts but they have no dimensions listed on them |

| When a part is drawn, a hole is drawn with a certain size, but it doesn't necessarily have a human readable label that tells what that size is. Most cad programs have tools for attaching a human readable label to some object or distance (dimensioning tools). Those labels are not needed in order to convert a part into machine readable gcode (and may actually be a bother). There are some ".zip" files around that have all of the individual pieces in them. Joe did not attach dimension labels to the drawings. Someone was talking about doing it but I don't know if they ever completed the task. Alan

| What most people have done is print it out and used for a template, most holes are 1/4" or 5/16" if you print to scale you will be able to tell pretty easy, glue it to some MDF and cut them out. I have seen several people do this. and used dato's for the 3/4" wide step downs. you can use Solidworks viewer to measure, or like ger21 mentioned use a free cadd program to do the same. Once you get into it it will be easy for you. Joe |
