I believe dumstercnc.com has nuts for 5 start. He is a nice guy. Check with him and see if he ships international.
To give you a little more encouragement I used the 5 start screw on my Joe 2006 unit for the X axis and I love it... It moves so smooth and FAST! You won't be disappointed.. I am using the Kelings 450oz steppers on mine.

I did send a message and will see what comes back. Your site led me to this url to follow. http://www.techno-isel.com/lmc/Produ...ID=13262911021
But they do have alot of the gear needed.
Thanks
John
Techo only has 1/2" 10 start rod. I have not heard this being used in any builds. Their quote seems low for the rod.
Can the 10 start be used and does it create other problems I may not be aware of.
The type of lead screws could someone enlighten me on a piticular type a link would be great.
Thanks
John
10 start is usually 1 turn per inch. So it'll move twice as fast as 5 start. But, it'll need twice the torque to provide the same cutting force. If you gear it 2:1, you'll get the same effect as using 5 start.
Basically, as the lead increases (turns per inch decreases), you're speed will increase, and the force provided by the screw will decrease. When using steppers, the force does not necessarily decrease proportionally to the speed increase, due to the fact that steppers have more torque the slower they spin. It's very possible to actually not lose any force while doubling top speed.
