I have a question about the threaded rod that drives the Gantry. I found a craftsman overhead garage door opener rail system and I thought about using the threaded rod out of it and I was just wondering if anyone knows if this would work as the xyz axis? The threaded rod dimensions are outside edge of the threads is 5/8 and from the high point on the thread is 3/16 of an inch apart. I am also thinking of incorporating the whole tracking system underneath the box to drive the gantry if the thread would work. Here is a couple pictures to look at and review. |

| yes it would work with modifications, but i would just stick to what is proven to work, and keep all my axis the same threads. you start running into dificulties when changing things, and also replacement parts may not be easy to find. Joe |
