Just use the dimensions from the J-gro..
it's 0.433 inch
Hi Group
I'm going to take the plunge and make a Joe2006.
Angle Iron Bearing Support Question:
The PDF file drawings do not show :
1) All The necessary dimensions to place the hole for the bolt to hold the bearing (For Example - on th Z Axis Bearing Support - it shows tha the holes are placed in 0.375 and 1.125 inches in from the end (say X Dimension) but does not give a Y-dimension. Looks to be around 1/2 or 5/8" on the 1.25 " side of the angle iron.
2) Don't show the dimensions of the hole (believe it to be 0.25")
Any help is appreciated.
Joe

I think I read somewhere the PDF drawing was at a 1 to 1 scale. You could use this drawing as a drilling template
I too am having a little trouble with the dimensions of the slide bearings.
I can't seem to find a pdf with the drawings of them anywhere.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,

The bearing bolt holes are for a 5/16" bolt, just drill 5/16. And 1/4" for the rail mounting holes. The 0.433" dimension is the most critical - it's half the diameter of the bearings. If you get it right, the surface of the bearing will perfectly match the opposite side of the angle. But, it's probably more critical that they be identical than exactly 0.433. Ten mils off either way probably won't matter as long as they are all off the same amount - I finally used a drilling jig to control that dimension.

Does anyone have the Bearing Support drawings at the actual size. The PDF's are not true to size and I can not get them to print at the true size to be able to use them as templates.
Thanks
Glenn
Glenn,
If you do a search for "print dwg" or "print dxf" you'll find software that will print DWG files. Then you should be able to print Joe's orginal DWG files to scale. AutoDesk has DWG Trueview that allows you to view and I believe print to scale at this link:

I have AutoCad, I guess I need to look back throught he files, I did not see the drawings of the bearing supports in those files.
Thanks
Glenn
Here's a link to the most current files I think,
http://www.lumenlab.com/~joe2000chev...odel_2006_R-1/
It's about the 4th link down just below the avi movie.

Just looked through the DWG files again and I do not see the XYZ Bearing Support files. Just to be sure I am talking about the aluminum angle parts that hold the bearings. I may be calling them the wrong thing.
Thanks
Glenn
