springs work on the shopbots you just need to know how much you will need to balance you spindle.
Hi guys ,
I've just completed the replacement of my old Porter cable router for a water cooled 2.2Kw spindle . It works great , BUT, i did not expect that it would be a lot more heavier for the z axis !! for now reducing the rapids on the z axis solved the missing steps . But would like to keep the speed i add. so
What i would like to know, is there any of you that setup something to counter weight a spindle, any idea?? , springs, bungee cords !!!
Thanks

You might think about mounting a gas spring on your Z axis. I've tried other things, but that seems like the best alternative.
