Need Help!- lead screw

Hello ,
I was looking into the build of one off joe's cnc machines .
One of the bigger questions I have is how the lead screw's are supported by the bearings .The stepper motor is normally connected with a friction coupling,but how is the end of the lead screw machined .
Do I need to turn the thread of ,or are people using a different solution ?
I think not all people here have a turning machine at home .

WHAT!!! Almost evryone here has a turning machine! your lead screw will have 2 nuts on each end. thats what holds the leadscrews inplace. Have a look at this Hi res Photo 56K warning. I may have taken your post wrong but belive me there are plenty of working machines. Me included, just finished.

On Joe's machines, the screws are not machined. They use a coupler with 2 different sizes, one for the screw and one for the motor shaft. The bearings ID is the same as the OD of the screw, and are held in place with clamp on collars, or double nuts, or even setscrews from the flanged bearings.
