I'm a member of Joes forum, and visit his site daily.

Joes Hybrid has evolved over the years, into several different versions. All of this info is available on the forum, once you purchase the plans. The latest version uses linear rails.

An alternative to the Joes, would be the CNC Router Parts kits. It's similar to the latest Joes machine, and the latest version of Joes machines use CNC Router Parts rack and pinion drives.
