I would like to build such a machine. My question would be, how reliable and accurate? Especially I would like to bite her trees, musical instruments and make my job easier I would like.

The edges of the original are poor quality, but this is best i can do with it right now, If you could get a better crisper scan it will be better.

I was wondering if it's possible to replace the HDPE with acrylic? HDPE is extremelly expensive in my country.
Some have done it but the acrylic can be brittle. I had made some of my hybrid out of acrylic and it worked.

You may want to look at the tensile strength, I think it may be lower than HDPE but in this application may be just fine. Also I believe that some of those materials is oil impregnated for self lubrication so this would have to be taken into consideration then using washers, surface contact areas etc, there may not be good friction to avoid loosening, may need to switch to locking nuts in places. there is allot of vibrations when cutting various materials. which can over time loosen bolts (which should be check periodically anyway).

Hey guys, just a stupid question, how do you prevent the bed from being cut?
For instance if I use a bed like this with rails (I am planning to use one like that to clamp the piece to cut)?

I have red that you can limit the Z axis depth, but only one mm mistake and the bed is scratched.

He will probably glue aspoil board on top of that and then when it gets worn resurface it many times, then when it gets to low, resurface then add another spoil board on top and do a final surface.

Sorry I will be asking more dumb questions,
1) What is the purpose of the X axis bearing adj plates? Why is it in one side and not in both?
2) Why are the holes in magenta (1/4") and blue (1/5") (see image) of different diameters? Should't they be the same as the same screw goes through them (1/4")? Won't it damage the MDF or HDPE piece as the hole is smaller than the screw?

the ones in blue look like they are for tapping 1/4" to it should be around 0.19", Also the antibacklash nut housing is only for acme nuts if you are using them, if you ate using dumpster delron nuts you do not need them.

I have one more question: how do you get this hexagonal recessed holes to not have round borders? As far as I know inner recessed holes would have round borders if cut with a CNC.

Or look at a rotary broach form tool to get it spot on.
If it's to take a hex head, you could also put circles (maybe pre-drill?) the corners so the sharp edges fit in.

That's what I do. Use a 1/8" bit and drill holes in the corners for clearance.
