I've decided to make a JGRO but I wanted a larger bed. Instead of the 15x30 I've seen mentioned, I wanted a 24x36. So, I began stretching all the pertinent parts by 6" or 9" and planning how they lay out on a 49"x97" sheet of MDF along with recommended first few cuts and accounting for a 3/32" kerf.
Here's what I came up with if anyone is interested. It's still a bit sloppy but I'm going to start cutting and labeling parts this weekend. The sheets are all either 1" or 3/4"=1'-0" and fit on 8.5x11.
-75 MDF is the 3/4" sheet
-5 MDF is 1/2" (you may have to put 2 of the supports short pieces on one end.)
-Dimensions is a reference sheet just for the 3/4"
-Base and bed support layout. (All of the cross pieces are going to be dado'd to slide together for a firmer sturdier fit.)
I was also considering a vacuum hold down system. Just drill a bunch of holes in the bed support framing and top, add a 1/4" mdf bottom and a vacuum connection in the end. Has anyone done/tried that?
Thanks,
Gyv
Sorry, I just realized I forgot to double the ends. I'll rework it. Boy that's tight.
Try this.
