Extruded Aluminum build?

Has anyone done a JGRO or Joe build using extruded aluminum for the frame, bed, and gantry?

I’ve been a woodworker for quite some time, but have no metal working equipment.

However, looking at the extruded aluminum at this site, http://www.tslots.com, I should think you’d be able to bolt together a frame and gantry without any real metal working equipment. I have used my woodworking equipment to cut aluminum to size so I expect this should be possible.

I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that’s given this a try.

Yes, many people have done extruded aluminum builds. I am new at this, but one seemingly popular choice has been the extrusions from the 80/20 company. They also have an ebay store which sells surplus at reasonable rates. They also have bearing solutions which have worked for some people as well.

I personally am going to go for the JRGO style using gas pipe for runners, but largely because I am trying to stay super cheap. The 8020 stuff looks like a great method of construction.
