I'll respond as this place seems to be a ghost town recently...

Looks great! I'm still building mine and was thinking of making it that color, but I've changed my mine to black or a very dark grey.

I've got a question for you. It appears that your long axis is the standard JGRO length. If you put pressure on the cutting deck/bed, does it bow down? I'm planning on extending mine out to 60-65" but don't see how the cutting bed will hold up to a router putting downward force on it...

Also, what router are you going to use? Where did you get the drawing for the router holding brackets? Stock JGRO diagram?

Matt

yes matt but very slightly.i had plan to build the bed from steel, which i am still going to do.depending on the results i get when cutting.but for now i am going to use angle iron underneath the two sides of the bed. Hopefully this would make it more rigid.since you are going to 6ft you will get some bowing there and that is my opinion. If possible you can build your cutting base from metal,or use a hard wood. I used pine.
I am going to use my dewalt 1.5 hp router.a friend cut out the router brackets for me,it is from joe's router.how far are you with your build?

It's been slow going. Last month I put together the control box (board, ac/dc converter, fan, cap, enclosure). It passed the voltage tests, but I haven't wired up the steppers yet to test. I have the gantry about 70% done but am stalled until I buy bearings. I'll put the adjustment blocks on probably today or tomorrow.

You know, when I went to the hardware store to buy pipe, I found some 1/2" galvanized pipe that's in the pic below. This stuff had really thick walls compared to the other galvanized pipe that was also available. I suspect that the people who are having serious pipe flexing issues have the thin stuff. I'm still going to support my pipe, but I'm not having any luck bending it. The pipe I found was only available with threaded ends.

I figure this next week I'll start to cut the long bed parts. I'm hoping to get it running and cutting before the end of the year. Actually, I'm dreaming of it running way before then but I'll see how much time I can spend on it.
