Essential and Desired Tools for JGRO Build?

Hi All,

I'm planning to undertake a jgro build fairly soon. I'm currently trying to read all the various threads for background info. One thing I haven't seen addressed is what tools will be most useful for the build. I'm willing to purchase some new ones if it will make a significant difference for me.

I already have a table saw, so that will do for the cutting. Other than that, it's portable drills, hand saws, etc. The one tool I've considered looking at the plans is a drill press, but I thought I'd ask those who've already built a jgro ... what tools do you think are most essential? And what tools may not be essential but are still quite helpful?

remember to get a nice new blade for the table saw.

As for tools. A nice set of measuring tools. I use those the most, then a hand drill to do holes. I find the drill press I own too crappy for much of anything.

I used a bandsaw for the blocks, but actually did the sizing on a mill.

a good set of spade and hole saws.

also remember: some of the plans are labeled wrong size. Go by the picture, not stock size.

Also you can use woodscrews and save youself hours of drilling and tapping.

also some nice clamps. Every kind and as many as you can get. Also I used a nail gun for the torsion box and bed support.

A good drill press is advisably a key item in your build, it's really hard to get straight & accurate holes with a hand drill.
