acme leadscrew

hello. i built a jgro router about a year ago with the 1/4-20 leadscrews.
i went to 1/2-13,cut a couple things, and its been sitting for about a year. guess i just got busy with other things and kinda forgot about it.
anyway...... i went to fire it up today and noticed ive got serious problems with the 1/2-13 rods i was using. i want to go with 1/2-10 2 start acme and the dumpstercnc anti-backlash nuts, but i cant figure out the best way to hook it all up... im hoping someone has a pic of the best way to connect the acme rod and dumpster abnut to the jgro design they could share so maybe i can get this machine rollin again. thanks

Can't help you with your new setup - I'll be looking for that picture also.

But I'm curious - what type of "serious problem" are you having with your current leadscrew - rust ??

the problem im having is that the delrin abnuts i made seem to be binding wich is causing the z axis to not repeat.... im sure if i messed with it i could get it fixed, but i figured as long as its apart i should upgrade to the acme lead screws

short answer, yes that motor when pushed with 24+ volts will have plenty of power.

Well I am using Pminmos 3977 boards with 30vdc and I have 260oz/in motors with acme 1/2 - 10 (not 2 start) and I am using acme nuts in housings spaced apart for back lash and I cut 1/8" -1/4" deep with 1/4" upspiral at 40- 50 inch a min in 1/2 step with a 1hp router and a variable speed controller with no problems on an unmodified Jgro.
