    New guy with a question

Hello - I joined this group some time ago but havnt been here much. I will be reading a lot of the great stuff that you guys have posted in the next couple of days.
I am considering building a router instead of buying one. I will me making vaccuum tooling about the size of a laptop case or maybe a little bigger about the size of half of a motorcycle fender. Some detail but not too crazy.

Here is my quick question ( I know the answer is not quick)

Being that I am a great fabricator and have a simple machine shop ( lathe, mill, welder and a laptop computer) Is it as easy as it looks to build one of these and teach myself to use it?

    I thank you in advance.

Well if I can build one, anybody can... hang on a minute - I haven't finished yet

Seriously though, sounds like you have the tools, there is a lot of info here for the newcomer to CNC, and lots of people willing to help. Just make sure you start a build log and put on lotsa photo's.

Thanks guys, I'm on it. Post a question, go to bed, get up and presto, answers. I love it.

A build log is a great idea.

Thanks again for the encouraging push.

I have got jrgo's plans and the ones from solsylva - but have not started yet ,the reason is because I am having to rebuild my workshop - vandals got in and destroyed the lot - so far I have got a few tools and some benches so as soon as i start the pictures will flow.

Sorry to hear about your shop. I hope the vandals were caught.
The good thing about starting is that you are a step closer to finishing.

I am also sorry to hear about you shop. Nothing makes me mader than someone destroying or stealing a mans means of making a living.
