Is there anyone who is offering for sale the HDPE/delrin alignment blocks and antibacklash nuts for the JGRO design? In older threads I see Joe used to sell sets of these to people but I don't see anything more recent than January of this year on this. Anyone willing to make a set please let me know what the cost would be and when you might be able to produce them. I'm in no particular rush as I just bought all the materials for a jgro machine this weekend so it will be a few weeks before I'm ready for final assembly. Still a lot of cutting, drilling and tapping to do! |

| I am going to do the same, but I will build the whole unit in wood... and then little by little replace everything with HDPE and DELRIN... I am probably going to start mine tomorrow, so if i get it going by the end of the week, ill make them for you. |

Well, I had to shelve this project for a while but I'm back on track and I've got most of my MDF cut and tapped. The next thing to do is cut all the HDPE! I bought mine directly from McMaster-Carr, they have a huge selection of any shape or size you could possibly need. Just search on their site for 'HDPE'. I purchased a 12" x 12" x 0.75" sheet for the router mount and alignment blocks, and a 2.5" x 48" x 0.5" sheet for the anti-whip, anti-backlash nut and tensioners. The minimum length for a 2.5" width is 48" which is enough to make 18 anti-backlash assembles so I may be able to help people out with those. Total cost was only $27.72 before tax and shipping. However I also ordered the 1.25" x 1.25" aluminum channel from them since no stores carry that width near me. I should be cutting out these pieces this weekend and I'll post an update when I'm done. |

| Well I finished all the 0.75" parts this weekend. The HDPE machines beautifully, it barely heats at all unlike some other plastics. I got great smooth straight cuts using a radial arm saw, and drilling out the 1" holes went well using a spade bit on a press. The only time I had any trouble was drilling the 1.5" holes with a hole saw, there's a lot more friction, but going in 3 steps let the bit cool enough so they still came out fine. In any case, I highly recommend ordering your own HPDE and cutting these yourself since it's as easy as doing the MDF would be, and certainly less dusty! I'll be cutting and tapping the 0.5" parts this coming weekend, I will probably make a few extra sets since I have 48" to use and they go quick once everything is marked. If anyone is interested in getting a set of 3 anti-backlash HDPE blocks & anti-whip block then post here or PM me this week and we can work something out. Which I think nicely brings this thread I started around full circle. ![]() ![]() Router mounts and centering blocks cut, drilled, and tapped @ 1/4-20. |
