I ran the machine about 5 hours today, just cutting air while I had the other machine going on parts. The modification of the x axis was very easy. The bearing slides really well and better with some silicone lube spray. I had not removed the acme screw (didn't want to mess with my AB nuts) so using the screw as a handle I could give the gantry a push and it would slide to the end of the rail+. No issues, works as expected, much better than the roller/pipe bearing, not as rigid as a steel linear bearing and rail. Was able to get up to 80 IPM before missing steps with 200oz motors (was at 40IPM before).

Hello everyone, I'm making this one revision to the jgro router design for my own use. It is for the y axis gantry. I got the idea mostly from Anoels build photos. I have this drawing in Illustrator and would like to output it to the correct dimensions for tracing onto the mdf. Anyone have any ideas as how I can do this?? Thanks Last edited by mrbaseball; 11-19-2005 at 09:11 PM.

I use illustrator a lot for drawing up plans for rc planes - the easiest & quickest way is to draw some square guidlines on the image in a different colour to the main constuction lines. Then print the file out tiled onto as many pieces of paper as needed - trim the bits of paper to some of the square guidlines that you drew before & tape together.....then trim out the part that you want & stick it onto the wood with adhesive spray mount (the repositional type) then trace round or cut around the pattern.....this works for me - others may have a different way.
