My JGRO

Okay, I found this website last week and decided it was time to build a CNC router. So I swiped three HP Laserjet III from the trash, modified the JGRO plan a bit for my needs, and began building today. Here's what a couple of hours of work produced.

Got the other 8 support blocks cut and drilled. Have them in the freezer over night to get them nice a crunchy for threading tomorrow. Was able to attach the uprights and set some pipe in to test the fit. It looks like the assembly is about 40 thousandths out of square, not to bad. My test gantry slides like quite nice.

What source did you get those lead-screw bearings from? Were they inexpensive?

Got them from Tanner Electronics in Dallas for $0.99 each. They're made of Delrin with a 5/16" bore.

Os you machine wider than the original jgro, if so you may want to have you pipe rails a larger dia. thats what i had to do, and it works well with no real noticable flex which machineing.

How wide and how big of pipe did you use?

z = 1/2"x18"
y = 3/4" x 36"
x = 1" x 60"

and the adjustment blocks, all holes and spacing between redone accordingly, thats why i drew it all up in cadd.
