Does anyone have any good jet engine plans?

I owned a machine shop for years and have became disabled. Now I still have a decent CNC hobby shop and would like to build a jet engine if someone has any good plans.

No plans, but a great reason to build one!

I really recommend the Wren MW54. You can scratch-build as much as you want, but if you get stuck, each and every individual part can be purchased from Wren, who are good folk in G.B. The MW54 is a well-proven design and runs sweet. I have built 2, one from sheet/bar stock (except the compressor, turbine, and NGV), and one from a "kit" to act as the gas generator for my turboprop.

The KJ66 is another proven design with a wide following. The KJ is an 18-20lb class turbine, while the MW54 is a bit smaller at 12-14lb thrust.

Either of these would be a wise choice. There is nothing exceptionally hard in a small turbojet. It took three months of spare time to build my first, while one of my average IC engine projects can take 1 yr or more.

Good luck! They SOUND and SMELL just like their big brothers. The sound is especially cool. I don't have the skill to fly one in an R/C model... about the best I can do with R/C is an electric foamie!!

Just to add another site for plans. They are for the KJ66 and all parts can also be purchased from there or other sources. It is a popular engine also with home builders but the Wren is also that way now.

Jet Engine Plans

There are plans for a jet engine similar to a KJ66 in Autocad format available for free at http://www.john-tom.com/html/Jet.html
They are from a German university project. There are also KJ66 upgrade plans
Best regards

John

i 2nd or 3rd the MW54 for the same reasons that of Swede.
any part you cant be azzed to build, you can buy from Wren. plus they are on the end of a phone to answer any stupid home builder questions.
heres a link to the 54 I'm building http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47441 so you can see whats involved.

it was meant to be running for last month, but i got a mill instead and ran out of money to get the turbine and NGV. :-(

With those updated kj66 plans do you use the same turbine wheels and compressors and such as the original as they are not in the drawings? Thanks
