| Your best bet is to build an already proven design, or to simply modify one. If you look at most modern, model turbojets, you'll see they are all a variation of one proven design. I'd just buy plans for a model turboprop (assuming your fan is a propeller). These guys are reputable: www.wrenturbines.co.uk Ofcourse you can design a one-off engine, but the mathematics, lengthy development, and lack of refinement that inevitably results should make that a last resort option. Look at one of the first model turbojets (http://www.gtba.co.uk/engine_designs/schreckling.htm) compared to a newer model jet (http://www.gtba.co.uk/engine_designs/wasp.htm). If you are willing to design a new engine, brush up on your calculus, join a discussion group that is filled with people smarter than me (www.homebuildturbines@egroups.com) and learn about their larger counterparts through technical text books (http://www.aiaa.org/content.cfm?pageid=360&id=975). Going the tried and true path is your best option...especially if you are inexperienced. Good Luck. |
