    Ram Jet

Who has the experience to build the most primitive, operational, hobby ram jet?

You can buy small ram jet engines. I have one myself. It is for a U-fly model airplane. It's about as loud as you can imagine (everyone for blocks would hear it). Check out any model airplane magazine for the small ones.

If you want something a little bigger than check out the links below.

P.S. One day when I win the lotto and have some extra time I'd like to play with the Tesla Turbine.

    Ram Jet plans

A guy at unitednuclear.com providing science supplies, has a set of plans for $20.00 and $25.00. For 20 and 120 pound thrust models.

    Ram Jets

I think what you are looking for is a pulse jet. A ram jet requires it to be brought up to speed by another source before it will work. In otherwords you cannot do a static firing of a Ram Jet without a wind tunnel.
If it realy is a Ram Jet you are looking for, I would try the NASA Langley Library on the net and do a Ram Jet lit. search.

If it is a pulse jet you want, go to http://www.airtoi.com/ and click on jets. Through this site, you will find more than enough plans for pulse-jets. In fact just about all the plans you see for sale on eBay will be found here for free.

    Hope this helps
