Ray....

Yup, sure did man, thanks for those, they will be helpful to say the least. I have some ideas about this that I gotta do some footwork on but I think that as you said it is definitely doable but not simple. Lots of bellville tension and some applied leverage and a stout cylinder of some kind. I read where you had some idea for a torque multiplier, care to share your ideas here? I tried to download that piece but it would not for some reason... There are actually a lot if interesting ideas about this problem in that thread you posted. Also your idea of limiting the distance an impact driver travels has merit too. I am with you tho in that the pneumatic or hydraulic setup is much quieter and more elegant solution. Gonna think on this one...peace

Pete,

I attached a PDF of the patent with the pictures. But you can also go to google.com/patents, and download #5,273,264. Though I think the pneumatic/hydraulic multiplier is the way to go. It could probably be largely built with automotive brake/cluych hydraulics, or even from scratch.

Limit configuration

That is some funny stuff right there man....

Just wondering how most of you guys have your limits configured. Do you put all your limits on one pin for home and one for limit or do you have individual pins designated? peace
Hi Pete,
I have one pin per switch because with the dspmc originally you had to do it that way. Rufi has now changed it to allow the home/limit combo. I am leaving it the way it is because you can see which limit switch is tripped, not just a general limit switch is hit. The leds on the diagnostic page.

There is no reason why you can't make a fortune with your cnc.
At least you own it outright and don't have to make payments on it every month.

Mike
