Allow us to introduce ourselves, I'm Gene Spada the co-owner of Industrial Hobbies with my son Tommy as my partner. Over the last 4 months we have met some of the nicest guys around from the CNC Zone. As customers and fellow hobbyist we would like to thank you for all your support. We are frantically manufacturing our new Turnkey CNC Mills to keep up with our orders so our support time will be limited on the Zone for the time being. We will have all the new product changes which we are very excited about on the IH site soon and we will set some links up on the Zone to preview these pics and products. Industrial Hobbies has hundreds of customers out there and we are only a phone call or E-mail away for questions and help. Lots of Mills, DRO's and product in stock, no waiting there. Ok, now with two beers, and having seen the new link above I simply must spout off my .0035 cents unworthy as they may be ! I like what you have done, it goes a long way ! I especially like the oiling system and must say that you might as well add in oiling to the "z" especially, then the "x"&"y" because ! I also like the added "x" and "y" travels ! ! this can come in handy and make use of the table, especially in fixturing ! All your lacking is a good formula for a DC spindle motor, only because i'm starting to do my shopping for that now. I'm hoping to find that it'll be a boost to low end torque with the removal of the gear box guts ! OR read higher speed is greatly needed without loosing low end performance and no sloppy chinese gear sets. I know, it worked good as it was ! and it was my choise but I'm glad i did it. Any way ..... congrats on a fine looking product ! But i'm a greedy buster and want more ! OH yea, How's the Strippers ? Sure wish i could hook one up !

The new heads are really quiet. A 3/8 drill is much louder. With 6 speeds at 150rpm to 4000rpm there is plenty of power all the way through, really torquey. In fact it is much quieter than our belt drive.

Gene do you plan on selling the unique kits that you have installed on your latest creation to us guys who bought the older cnc mills? i would like to add the way oiling kit. i could source it myself but if you had something ready to go that would be great. also will you be selling the just the table extensions? can i do both the x and y or will i need new ballscrews for each? (i haven't installed mine yet, so now would be the time to find out.)

Whats up with this new oiling kit?? Man, why didn't you show me it when I was there?? Are you putting groves in the ways or is this a simple add-on for older customers?


I've had the chance to visit with Gene and Tommy twice this year. They're about 90 minutes away from me driving. They are good people. When I'm there most of time Tommy is working but Gene spends a lot of time talking with me not even about the mills but life, things like running a business.

These guys are workaholics seriously, both times I visited I got there after 7pm and stayed to 2am,they kept working after I left. And the wiring in the electronic boxes is just beautiful. I've heard their 5000rpm belt drive conversion and the gearbox running at 4000 is quieter. I was thinking about doing a belt drive conversion but after seeing them run my exact mill with a vfd and new motor I wouldn't do it now. That and the possibility (I know these guys don't recommend it) of running the gear box at higher speeds really has me looking forward to upgrading my motor. Its weird but the new motor and vfd sound quieter than my stock motor also.

Runner - You need bigger ballscrews to do the extensions. I paid Aaron extra for it when I got mine. I'm not sure if its extra with Gene's current package but you would need new ballscrews.

Hi to all. I am new here and have been going through the posts. I am in the process of putting together an order for an IH mill, CNC conversion kit, VFD and motor.
I did not see a reply on whether there is any grooving done for the one shoot lubricator, maybe I missed it.

The one shot oil system we put on the Turnkey CNC Mills is for the ball screws and ball nuts only. Because of the easy access to the ways we feel that brushed on way lube is the way to go. We lube our ways once in the morning and then run 8 to 10 hours of production milling, and at the end there is still plenty of lube left. Putting grooves on the ways in our opinion is fine, but really not necessary as all of our mills with thousands of hours of hard use with no discernible wear will attest to. As a Quality Engineer for one of the largest Telecommunications Companies in the world, I wanted to provide some feedback here. Our company commits millions of dollars per year for the opportunity to gather the type of customer feedback this forum provides. The fact that the IH owners monitor, reply, support and engage in both positive and negative discussions is a representation of their commitment to their product, customers, design and product quality.

A layman's definition of Product Quality is; Does the product perform to the expectations promised? Not all products are perfect. Some companies sell their version of "Product Quality," which only is supported till the cheque is cashed. Others will support and accept customer feedback and recommendations. In product manufacturing, there must be a balance of cost, time-to-market, and quality…..I think I'll end here not to drag this on.

Am I looking for a CNC turn-key mill…Yes. Am I researching product verses product to death…Yes. However, customer and technical support play a huge factor in my decision. The fact that the IH owners do continue to support their product after the sale is critical to there commitment to their product, product development and product quality.

For anyone looking at either a turnkey mill or the CNC kit, I can honestly say that IH is one of the best I have seen.

I purchased the CNC kit from Aaron and just recently finished it. During the assembly, I found that I had not recieved the Y and Z axis Limits in the kit. I found this out after Gene & Tommy had purchased IH.

When I called Gene, he cherfully agreed to provide me with the missing components. In addition, he helped me troubleshoot some wiring problems when the mill was ready to run.

This is the way service is supposed to be, but often is not. Hats off to Gene and Tommy for a first class operation.
