    CNC X Limits

The IH X limiter works by ulitizing the manual X T-stops to trip the optical limiters. My question is in the CNC environment do you set the stops once (at max travel) and leave them there?

The reason I ask about the limit is I have a 32 inch glass DRO scale that I plan to mount on the table. I will make a compound mount for the scale, it will afix it to the table and provide the trigger ear to trip the limit switch. The limit switch will be stacked on top of the read head for the DRO.

Set once to extrema and leave alone.
The only exception is with the Z.
My Z has been modified and only limits the top of travel as it is not going to stop a tool from hitting table or.

in your case i would mount them to protect the scale. no reason to damage your 32 in scale in case of run away.

The idea is to make a compound mount for the scale. At 32 inches it will extend just beyond the travel limit of the table. The limit tabs will sit on top of the scale and point inward towards the saddle. A common set of bolts will anchor the scale and the limit tabs.
