    IH update

For those who worry, i just spoke with Tommy at IH. he assures me that they are very busy and have recently just placed an order for another container of mills to be delivered. there are 41 manual mills in a container. he did mention that the biggest problem they have right now is the electrical guy he hired just up and quit. granted thats not the reason the parts for kits haven;t shipped but it is indirectly related as someone has to pick up the slack and get the assembled units out the door.

i did offer to help with making any parts for the kits he may need help with as i have cnc turning centers and VMC at my disposal in my shop. ideally i think that IH has a very good unique product and i would hate to see it go away because of some family issues they have had. i do like my IH mill after getting it all tuned in and running well and its a joy to make parts on.

really wish i had a tool changer on my mill but thats another story. in any case everyone don't fear, IH is alive and kicking and is making and shipping mills, unfortunately not as fast as everyone would like but they are doing it.

    runner,

I'm sure that you are trying to help, but how many people are there that have had their money collected and their product has not been delivered?

Any organization without deep pockets that takes payment and does not ship within 30 days is heading towards failure. We are not talking about taking an order and then billing on the date the order is shipped.

It would be interesting to know how many people are still waiting for their delivery and have already paid.

Personally, while I wish that IH would pull it together and be what they once were....I certainly would not bet my hard earned money on what presently appears like a long shot at best.

    Paul,

I currently have a turnkey on order which is expected to ship any day now. I put down a 10% deposit at the time of ordering which only seemed fair. To date, that is the only money that has changed hands.

I'll start a thread with all the details once I have the mill. In the mean time, I just read the posts and hope I have better luck.

    Ken

As noted elsewhere, paid in advance for a kit last fall and still haven't received all of the kit items.

I've had a turnkey mill on order since mid-April. So far communication has been poor at best from Tommy. My machine was originally promised around the end of May, we're now working on being 2 months late. The most recent excuse was that he had to remake some parts and he was waiting to get them powdercoated.

I really feel sorry for the guys that have been waiting for their kits, I know my patience is wearing thin after only half the time. That being said he had better have my machine finished by the end of next week when I fly out for some training, or we are going to have problems. I have a very patient person waiting for parts who is getting less patient with each delay.

The last time I talked Tommy (months ago), my stuff was also waiting to come back from powdercoating then my entire kit would ship.

Just what I wanted to hear. I hope he's not knowingly blowing smoke up my a$$ to keep me patient.

You should read the other thread -- after being told they'd ship in a week or two they never shipped. Even after I publicly demanded a refund or my kit, only part of my kit has shown up.

I know there have been major issues from guys buying kits, but it was sounding like he was still getting turnkey mills out in around 8 weeks from other threads. I've been trolling the board for awhile, slowly getting more nervous and annoyed.

The longer he keeps you patiently waiting, the harder it will be for you to back charge through your credit card company, that's if you paid by credit card. If you mailed him a check, you could file a claim for mail fraud with the US Postal inspectors. Debit card, you are screwed.

There's always the FTC. Interstate orders have a default 30-day rule, if the seller doesn't get explicit permission to delay shipment within a set number of days they have to refund your money.

See http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/business/adv/bus02.shtm for all the gory details.

Also, someone from IH monitors this forum. Within minutes of demanding a refund or my kit I got a call from IH saying my kit would ship that day. Most of it shipped that *week*, and I'm still waiting on parts.

Which reminds me, I need to look into filing a FTC complaint about my missing components...
