Attention Industrial Hobbies -- Return My Money

    Attention Industrial Hobbies:

On 20 October, 2009, I paid $4650.00 for a CNC upgrade kit that was to be delivered in "six to eight weeks". Since then I have received part of a power supply and numerous promises that my kit would ship "in a couple of weeks".

Meanwhile, posters to various forums have received mills and CNC kits, some who ordered after me.

On 11 June, 2010, you received a certified letter from me asking you to either refund my $4650.00 or deliver a kit within two weeks.

It is now 28 June and I have neither a refund nor a kit.

Please refund my $4650.00, at which time I will return the power supply component at my cost.

Not ten minutes after posting that I get a call from IH saying that most of my kit is going out today. Coincidence?

Doubt it... quite often once you "go public" the company will listen. Though I'll give it to you, you got a lot more patience than I would have had.

Well, my patience is finally wearing thin. I was on the phone with my credit card company (USAA) asking what my options were when I got the call from IH telling me most of my order is shipping today.

They claim they are shipping to people in the order that they purchased. I'm not sure how that works with people picking things up or ordering/receiving turnkey mills.

    Unhappy

    Jetflatline,

"MOST" parts.......I can't beleive it's not "ALL" parts.

I am really glad I didn't buy a manual mill from them. Actually I'm pretty sad because,,,,,, I really like the machine. It seems Industrial Hobbies has always had a great loyal following. Even before Gene and Tommy was in the picture.

When you surf around on the forums you find several companies that have taken customers money and then not deliveried as promised. IH is not alone here but not excused.

It seems from three different lists, kit, standard mill and turnkey mill. I ordered my kit right at a week before you, but gave up the middle of May. I got the same story, but no product, for too many times so the nonsense had to stop. I had motors and the rest of the components from other vendors within two weeks of my cancellation. By the way, mine is now running and I made first cnc chips Saturday night. Got a couple odds and ends to finish up, but it'll run my programs now.

    Good Luck
    Bob

I hope this is true...I ordered my kit July 12, 2009. I did recieve some of the kit a couple of weeks ago finally but I can't do anything with it. still waiting on ballscrews, gears, belts, motors, instructions, cad/cam.

Today I received 3 ball-screws via UPS, nothing else. Packaged marked "1/1", UPS says it was shipped Tuesday, not Monday. So much for "your kit will ship today".

    EDIT: I received 3 ball-screws, not 1.

You should call your credit card company back, see what they can do. Possibly a chargeback if they still can since it's been a long time since you paid.

Pretty rediculous they would tell you that your kit would ship and all you get is a ball-screw.

I'm waiting until Tuesday to call the credit card company on the off chance that the rest of the kit is still on a UPS truck.

I figure if the credit card company can't do a charge back I'm probably going to file a complaint with the FTC. They didn't deliver when they said they would, so they are supposed to offer me a refund. The 30-day rule is pretty straightforward (even I can make sense of it :-), and they've never officially offered me a refund much less officially notified me of a delay or gotten approval for a delay.
