    CNC Tapping

I have acquired a Procunier 3E. I am not sure about programming the G Code for tapping; RPM, Feed, Peck depth, Retract and so on.

If someone here as done this, I would appreciate advice on this.

    Thanks in advance.

The Procunier 3E is a tapping head. You feed it down at a certain rate and when you "pull up" on it, it reverses rotation at twice the speed as it was rotating when going down.
I read somewhere about one person that always set his rotation (fwd) speed at 10 times the TPI (example a 1/4-20 tap would be run at 200 rpm) and the downfeed rate was always 10 IPM that way and correspondingly for your Procunier 3E the up feed rate would be 20 IPM. There is a clutch in the unit to automatically switch to reverse when pulled up.
In my cam (SheetCam), they recommend running a slight underfeed to make sure your system does not "push" the tap into the material. If you go to slow, the tap will first dwell (0 rpm) or in worst case, start to back out.

The video referenced is a form of rigid taping and does not use a tapping head such as the one you have.
