I might advise to consider more of the work envelope here ! When you take tool length, 4th + axis or other work holding devises necessary to mount and hold odd parts you may wish you had the taller column. I have the older v-3 IH mill and really would like to have the new version for the castings upgrades alone ! The servos, power supply, all add up to power to feed. The ball screws with doubles on x&y are commonly showing backlash of .0005" to .0006" and that is not necessarily the ball nuts. I don't doubt that it is even tighter now. Accuracy will be an arguable term, but .001" tolerances will be easy. Getting it tighter will depend more on the the applications of tech / tools etc. as well time ! I don't have a lot of info on the newer turnkeys, but I have talked to Gene and Tommy and from what I gather, they have refined the system tremendously since my machine was purchased. I'd advise to give them a call and talk to them. They don't put everything on the website, but will be happy to fill in the blanks and invite you into the IH owners family. I firmly believe that you get what you pay for, cost is of course a consideration, but if you expect to produce then buy productivity.
