Anyone in the UK bought an IH CNC turnkey?
Thinking shipping \ power might be fun. Although $->£ still holding around ~1.9 ->2.0
I have a manual RF45 clone and its done the necessary for last two years. bit sloppy etc but lived with.
Looking to upgrade to better mill with cnc to help with various short / small runs \ prototyping of the sort of work you can do on an RF45.
Not really looking to retrofit. Thinking good genral purpose machine thats reasonably hefty / rigid without being a monster.perhaps leaning toward the light industrial rather than hobby. hoping to be able hold tol of approaching .001" over 12" parts without too much effort \ several light passes.
So IH looked like may be the the ticket. However a lot of water to haul it over, thinking that may be prohibitive?
Wondered if any Brit had done it already.
I have some work shop space coming up in 8-10 weeks and I have been saving for quite some time! So have money for a new mill (cnc this time). Happy me.
I live on Island of Jersey 80 miles from UK. 10 miles from France. it has its own sea freight terminal. Wondering if shipping to Our port a great deal of difference than shipping to say Potsmouth UK. And what IH->to Jersey(UK) shipping would be.
Just doing a bit of home work on the options and assesing if the idea is crazy
thank you philbur. that price does sound reasonable. did it include any sort of insurance in case the boat sank? How long did it take to get to you?
It took 4 weeks. I think it included insurance but not completely sure. I doubt I would have shipped without insurance. You will of course have to pay VAT and some paper work charges.
My experience with shipping costs from the States is that it is better to get the supplier at that end to arrange and make sure that he knows how to find the cheapest option (request a quote). Then all you have to do is find an import handling agent at your end and supply that info together with the delivery address to the seller. Piece of cake real. You could handle the import documentation yourself but its a pain.
Shipping a IH 3 Axis Servo CNC Turnkey Mill to Norway 1480 lbs cost less than a $1000.00 US. A regular IH Manual to Norway at 1100 lbs cost $692.00 US.
The last 4 Axis (Rotary Table)CNC Mill to go to Portsmouth, UK at 1650 lbs was 847.00.
Send us an email with your address on the Island of Jersey and we can quote it for you.

Many thanks for the reply. I will contact you directly via email.
How is that possible????
I was quoted (by another vendor) over $1500.00 to ship a cnc mill into Canada!!
Sounds like $1000.00 is a good deal.
