Cosworth DF series motor.

Hey guys, I have a cool idea.
When you start a source file project, ie 'reverse engineering flowerpots' we could post the source files for others to use. I am not asking people to give away hard earned cad data, just reference drawings like front, side, top, rear veiwed photograghs. (please modify them enough so as not to breach copyright).

Maybe I could start with some Cosworth dfv stuff?
Hope this catches on!

F1 v6 turbo

I really have no friends so I keep replying to my own posts, sad huh?
1988 honda v6 turbo, I lost the text but its easy to find. There was an SAE paper on this motor with rich, detailed information.

Ripped off!

I am sorry, I uploaded large GIF formats files but it would appear the moderator has resized and reformatted to JPEG resulting in detail loss.
Each file was kept under 500kb as requested but the result has been less than I had hoped. Happy cad drafting kids.

Remarkable to see how tall the cylinder heads are on the cosworth and other racing type engines.

That is because the inlet and exhaust ducts are almost as wide as the pistons to allow flow at high RPM...

I am sure the ports and runners are configured in wide arcs to reduce flow losses - a passenger car might have a kink in the runner where it meets the valve to reduce the height and therefore cost of material in the cylinderhead.

As 8.58 Mbyte ZIP files are allowed for things like CAD, why not zip your pictures into one file?

Gee, I have not looked at this post for at least a year.
Hello BFLORESF1, your going to like what I will tell you.
The Aurora motor is basically a u.s.a production v8 with a massive destroke, trumpets, dry sump, big ports and big cams.
Being a production v8, there should tonnes of literature on this motor.
Failing that, buy a gasket set for this motor and draw up the patterns to make you own blueprints.
Or find a self serve car graveyard and spend a day there with your vernier caliper, tape measure and steel rule carefully measuring and sketching notes to later put into cad.
I am confident you should be able to build a very dimensionally close scale replica.

Please post some photos of your sketches later down the track pal. (low res)
