new guy trying to figure out his 1000

just got my machine hooked up today! a new powermax 1000 eventually i will be building a cnc table

my garage is extremely cold right now, so I didn't play around too long. This is the first time ever using a plasma cutter.

what I couldn't figure out is the 'air' seems to be staying on after i turn the torch off. If i trigger it again, it turns off.

    am i doing something wrong?

That is called "post flow"...it will stay on for a few seconds after each cut to more efectively cool the consumables......when you trigger the torch during this post flow it immediately interupts the flow in preparation for the next cut. It is perfectly normal!

Feel free to post any questions. You have one of the best air plasma systems available....and we''ll be happy to help you out. I own a Powermax30, Powermax45, and a Powermax1000.....I use the 45 and the 1000 on a small cnc machine, and also with hand cutting applications.

I noticed you said you have a powermax 30, does hyper make any other nozzle sizes for this machine?

    The powermax 1000 has available:

-Finecut consumables...for low current and best quality on materials 1/8" thick and under
-40 Amp shielded consumables for materials from about 1/8" to 3/8"
-60 Amp shielded consumables for most cutting above 3/8"
-gouging consumables for backgouging welds, etc.
-Non shielded consumables (only used for special applications)

All of the available consumables are listed on the cut charts in your operators manual.
