Part number (s) for PM85

Hi, I would like to give my LWS rep a part number for a 85 that has everything I need to run on a CNC table. I know it will need a proper connection on the back to communicate and is there a separate part number for the torch? A 50' machine torch (standard length, not mini) is what we need, how is this ordered?

Thanks!

WSS

WSS....there are a lot of choices for part numbers for Powermax85 systems.

What you need is a power supply with the CPC port, a 50' machine torch, and an interface cable.

The interface cable plugs in the rear panel CPC port. There are two versions...one has plasma start (2 wires) and arc transfer (2 wires). The other has those two signals as well as divided arc voltage (2 more wires).....and is available in 25' and 50' lengths.

You can also get a version of the Power supply with a serial interface.....which has limited use on only a few select cnc machines (CandCNC.com machines just announced their ability to serially interface to Hypertherm plasma, and any cnc machine that uses newer technology cnc controls from Hypertherm...such as the EdgePro and the MicroEdge cnc control.

There also are packaged versions of the Powermax85 with both a hand and machine torch, and interface cable....this makes it a little less expensive than purchasing the hand torch separately....if you desire a hand torch as well.

Let me know what your needs are and I will help you select the right part numbers. Make of cutting machine....torch height control, etc.

Hypertherm tech service can also specify the correct part numbers...as can Hypertherm customer service.

Jim,

Thanks for the detailed reply, I did not know that the serial port version was different from the CPC port version. It is the serial port we are looking for. A 50 machine torch too.

Just wondering, what is the general difference in cost when getting a 25' hand torch in the package? That may be worth the while when you have a bunch of rems to cut up on the table.

Thanks!

Are you sure you want the serial port? You must have either a new CandCNC kit......or a Hypertherm cnc control....as those are the only two systems that I am aware of that will directly interface. I'll get part numbers for you.....unfortuanaly the only "packaged" hand and machine torch sets have both 25' or both 50' hand and machine torches. Buying them packaged together saves about $200.

Jim,
Yes on the first. We are installing a new servo system from CandCnc on our current table this month. I think it would be a good time to change out our plasma and take advantage of the new features offered. My LWS says I should wait for the 115X to come out early next year. This is the first I have heard of it.

Can you drop any clues or hints? I know Hypertherm works hard to stay in front of the pack, so I would imagine a 115amp air plasma is possible as research and technology progress.

There will be a new air plasma sometime next year....it will not be 115 amps...but it will be similar in design to the popular Powermax65 and 85 systems. Thats all you'll get from me! The welding supply guys are just speculating...

How about a "Y" or an "N" on a question like:
will it be rated for 1" ?

I'd love to offer more info on new products being developed in Hypertherm's engineering and research labs...but company policy does not allow us to release info before the product is ready for the market! We'll keep everyone posted!

Smile One more request . . .

Jim;

If you would not mind while you are digging through looking for numbers, I need the following;

System Part # for:

POWERMAX 85 with both port connections for CandCNC newest BladeRunner.

CPC Port & a RS485 port.

H85 75 degree 50' hand torch

M85 full-length 25' machine torch

The sales guy at my regular dealer has no idea what I am wanting.

If you could provide a link on Hypertherm's Website to this it would help a lot.

And thank you very much for being here for all of us . . .
Steve

No problem...we used to talk about new products long before they were released...but there are always delays in release due to engineering and manufacturing issues. When that happens it tends to really upset customers that are anticipating a new product. Announcing a product ahead of time also causes our dealers to sop placing orders for the product that will be replaced. We made the decision years ago to keep as quiet as possible. There likely are a few of the new products in the field operating...in disguise, of course!

I will try to get part numbers for your today....the system that I access is currently down...
