I love my Powermax 45!

I just sliced up a 4x4 sheet of 1/4" AR500, and wanted to show how good all the consumables still are. This job was only 83 pierces, but almost 2500 inches of cut. I started with a new nozzle and electrode, and this is what they look like at the end--still completely usable, not even cutting at an angle yet:

Here are the edges of the first piece cut, and the last piece cut:

The last piece actually has a bit smoother edge than the first, and is square enough to stand on it's own:

The one difference I could see is a tiny amount of dross on the top side of the last piece, mostly around the pierce point:

All of these are exactly as cut, zero cleanup. All the (very minimal) dross comes of very easily when I run a wire wheel across them.

This may not be a surprise to those of you who cut a lot, but I'm just a hobbyist--who happens to be really happy he spent the extra money initially on this machine.

I got my PM 45 setup last week, it has been great!

So far I have cut 3 2'x4' 3/16" steel plate sheets at 85IPM for a total of 4,590" of cutting with over 150 pierces and the last part to come off still was nice and square. I am going to keep using this set and see how long I can make them last.

With the PM 30 I was only getting about half a sheet before I would have some issues with the nozzle...

Small update...I still love my PM45.

I added some belt reductions to my X and Y axes, which helped smooth out my slower-speed cuts. This is some 3/8" I cut today, at 30IPM. I had good quality before, but it's even better now. Notice how nice and square the edges are, too:
