Let the smoke out of the cables!

I have acquired an old Hypertherm Max100 plasma torch. I basically got it for free because they were not sure that the unit worked. When I powered it up everything seemed fine and when I tried to cut a piece of metal the arc was not very hot. In looking at the unit there must have been a loose connection in the quick connect for the cables going to the gun because it melted the plug that went into the quick connect. I would like to know if there is a way to cut off the quick connect plug on the cables that are going to my gun and install fittings that would connect directly to the power unit. I know I could probably buy some direct connect cables but I really don’t want to spend that much money if I am not sure that the power unit is working. Thanks for any help that you can give me.

Best bet is to contact Hypertherm tech service, they can assist you over the phone with repairs.
