    Jim Clot /1250 G-3 ?

Jim, I'm in the final stages of plasma table build, and I'm just checking about the hookups to the plasma unit Powermax 1250 G-3 with a manual torch, I'm using CandCNC controls with a DCP ( digital current probe ). I believe the controls are working, but the torch won't turn on, I hooked up using the spade connections terminals J-? and J-? ( don't have the manual in front of me or I would have labeled better). But it seems I've read here about hooking wires to trigger connections traced back inside the case ? If so could explain one more time please.
    Thank You Ray

When you use the hand torch on any of the Hypertherm systems the remote start input is disabled.....as the hand torch is designed to be operated using the trigger switch for hand cutting applications. With a machine torch installed (does not have a trigger switch) the start input wiring is active. This is a safety precaution to minimize the chance of a hand torch being fired from a remote location.

If you are using the hand torch for a mechanized application (many users do) then you will have to trace the torch trigger switch wiring to splice the start signal. The output from the CandCNC electronics is a simple contact closure, which is exactly what the torch trigger switch does on the hand torch.

Unfortunately, as a Hypertherm employee I cannot help you make the connections to the hand torch that will effectively bypass our safety circuitry. Tom at CandCNC is familiar with the Hypertherm systems and may be able to offer guidance on these simple connections.

    Best regards, Jim Colt

    1250 G-3

Morning Jim, Not sure if my other reply made it, disregaurd if it did. Thanks for the information I was guessing that. Would like a machine torch just have to make some money on my setup first. Are there any sales coming up on the machine torches or where's the best place to buy? Thanks again for your time.
    Ray

As the manufacturer we don't have any sales....we rely on our distributors to handle that end of the marketing and sales task! Best prices are often found on the internet for Hypertherm products...just google Powermax1250 machine torch. You should be looking at the new Duramax machine torch upgrade for your 1250...it dramatically improves the cutting performance compared to the original torch design. Here is a link to the info.

I would recommend using what you have for now...it is relatively easy to connect, I just cannot offer the details!

    Jim
