Jim I know the 65 is bigger will cut thicker material etc. My question is does the 45 have a easy way to connect dthc to it or do you have to get inside of the machine. I looked at hypertherm web site but did not find a answer. Is the machine torch a option on both models? Although the more I think about it I cant really see a good reason to use the machine torch on a cnc table when so many of the ones in the build log have hand torchs clamped to them. And I can use it by hand if needed. Does the 45 have quick disconect torch? What am I missing? Thanks any advice will be of a help Mike |

| Both the 45 and the 65 have machine torches available, and both have quick disconnect torches. The machine torch is easier to square to the plate, and when the machine torch is plugged in the rear panel interface connections are active. For safety reasons, the start signal on the rear panel connector will not function with a hand torch installed....so if you use a hand torch on a machine application you will have to open the plasma and cut and splice wiring to make it work, bypassing the safety trigger on the hand torch. As far as connecting to a torch height control....it depends on the torch height control. Both the 45 and the 65/85 have voltage divider outputs available on the rear panel interface connector, also have start signals (active with the machine torch only) on the rear panel connector, and have an arc transferred (also known as arc good) output on the rear panel connector. Many torch height control systems require "raw arc voltage".....which can be as high as 300 volts DC.....and that output must be accessed by removing the cover on any plasma system....as the voltage is too high to meet CSA, and other electrical safety requirements to be accessible on the rear connector.
