1250/1000

Can anyone tell me if the hand held torches/leads are the same for a Powermax 1250 and 1000, reason being i seen a 1000 for sale for parts and it comes with the hand held lead and i have a 1250 with machine torch.

Thanks

swirl ring #

Going through my 1250 manual and comparing it to Hypertherms web site for 1000 consumables, they seem to be the same.. i did notice one thing, according to my manual the swirl ring # for fine cut is 120925 while on the web site it calls for # 220327, what is the difference and/or is this something new.

Thanks
EDD

Hi Edwardo,

I think the difference in the swirl ring part numbers is, one is used with the hand torch and the other is used with the machine torch.

Magma-Joe

You are right, i went back for another look and i was looking at the hand held.. also according to Hypertherm the 1000 hand held will not fit the 1250.

The torches and leads are interchangeable between the 1000 and the 1250.

The two Fine cut swirl ring parts numbers: 120925 is the swirl ring to use for all mechanized cutting applications, the 220327 is for hand held applications where there may be hard starting or arc transfer issues when edge starting.

Thanks Jim i was hoping you would reply, i emailed Hypertherm about the torch and lead but maybe the person who replied did not fully understand my question, i bought the PM 1000 with the hand torch for 100 bucks so if it didnt match i wouldnt be out that much, second option would have been to get the 1000 repaired which i still may do.

I have a 1250 torch and it operates fine on both the 1000 and the 1250. The Hypertherm part numbers are different, likely because the 1000 torches are shipped with 60 Amp consumables and the 1250 torches are shipped with 80 Amp parts.....

Thats a good deal on a working torch!

We would need more details about your machine. The Hypertherm is the plasma torch mounted on your cnc machine. The torch is rated to cut steel from 26 gauge to 5/8" thick, and typically will hold cut part tolerances in the plus or minus .030" range or better.

If you can provide details about the cnc machine it is mounted on, then we could possibly steer you in the right direction. Brand and model, cutting bed size, does it have a Torch Height Control system.

If your uncle bought the machine he must of had a purpose for it other than circles and squares, maybe triangles for gussets?
Seriously though, cnc plasma is used for producing 2D metal parts quickly and accurately and depending on labor costs less expensive. One experienced operator on a cnc machine can out produce 10 men working manual.
You will have to do a survey in your area to find out what demand if any there is for this type of product, check the local welding and metal fabrication establishments as most smaller businesses do not have cnc, art disc's are availible online to purchase or create your own which leads me to say that if you dont already know CAD-CAM then that is what you should concentrate on before advertising or asking around about work for the machine, know your and your machine capabilities beforehand. You are a business student so having or making a business plan should be second nature to you. Google cnc plasma and you will see what can be made with these machines. Good luck and happy cutting.
