homebuild cnc table and powermax 30

Hi
I built a small cnc cutting table (lineal rail, ballscrew and AC servo on each axis) and I've added a manual plasma torch PowerMax 30, my intention is to cut small thickness about 3-6mm, also i have a THC control system MP3000 from candcnc but I have serious problems with quality court and i hope you can help me

Torchhead is helping me with the values of THC (thank you very much) but I think something more fails, I'm new with plasma cutting and I haven´t great skill, I'm using the values from powermax 30 manual, working height for cutting 1.5mm and 3mm for piercing, but the quality is very poor, most of the time after the cut, the piece is welded to scrap and many burrs appears

I just saw the manual for PowerMax 45 and I have seen this machine can use consumables for PowerMax 30, can i do the opposite and using consumables for PowerMax 45 on powermax 30? if so what would be the recommended

I have also seen in the operator manual for powermax 45 that the cutting conditions also vary (using PowerMax 30 consumables) working height is 0.5mm and piercing height is 2.5mm, these values would be correct for my machine? and can i adapt PowerMax machining torch to my unit?

well, any suggestions on how to improve the quality of cut would be very grateful

thank you very much
regards

The Powermax 30 was designed for hand cutting at relatively low duty cycles on thin materials. That being said, there are many of these plasma systems in use on cnc machines.

The cutting specifications for using the Powermax30 that are listed in the manual are for hand cutting. A good rule is to cut at approximately 60% of the speeds reccomended for hand cutting...when you are machine cutting. That should solve your cut quality issues. The cut height and pierce heights that (1.5mm for cut height, 3 mm for pierce height) should be good.

I would not recommend using the Powermax45 consumables in the Powermax30 torch...as the air flow rates and pressures will not be correct, and could cause issues with consumable life and possibly torch damage. I am not sure that they will fit in the Powermax 30 torch as well.

You can use .5mm cut height on stainless steel for good results, but use 1.5 mm on carbon steel.

Hi again, do you have a picture of the torch holder you are using and also where did you find the information on how to convert the 30 to autostart? I have searched the web and can not find any information on the conversion. thanks
