    Default hd1070

    Hello,
please help my to solve hypertherm hydefinition hd1070 plasma cutter with manual gas console problems and make it work. I have hydefinition hd1070 plasma cutter. I read everything I can find at forums and at hypertherm.com library. About hd1070 there is just little information, about similar cutter hd3070 is much more. I read all pdf’s, and try a lot of things from https://xnet.hypertherm.com/Xnet/lib...084&format=pdf

I work one week with it and no results. I hope there is someone who can help my and say what to do that this plasma would work.

From beginning: At 2011 this plasma was upgraded to 100A, at these days it was working, I get this plasma few months ago not working, and now I have some holiday days, so I want to repair it.

At this pdf (https://xnet.hypertherm.com/Xnet/lib...084&format=pdf) at 130 pg. is written about green POWER ON indicator light. But there in no light bulb or led on panel who can illuminates. Maybe this is light bulb connector? It is similar connection for light bulb connection.

    Fans is running.

Start command is given, but DC on doesn’t illuminates.

At video (https://streamable.com/p57x3)y ou can see: I press ON and after 8 s OFF button and control pcb error led flash one time when relay connects. But at 139 pg. is written flashes from 2 times and 1 is illuminates all time. This led don’t illuminate and don’t flash, so there is no errors, yes?

At 135 pg. is status led troubleshooting, some led’s is different from my hd1070. This is photo of mine led panel (https://ibb.co/dBwD9a). I press on button and two led illuminates: interlock and transformer (video: https://streamable.com/yosbu). At 135 pg. is written that interlock have to illuminates: when I open RHF it turn off, so it is good.

How about transformer led? At same page beginning is written: “except OVERTEMP does not extinguish” so it means that overtemp led have to iluminates. At hd1070 panel there is written transformer, but after reading what overtem means, I guess that is the same. At beginning is written that this led have to illuminates, but few lines down it is written that if this led illuminates then it is an problem: This LED will extinguish when the main transformer (T2) is operating in a normal temperature range( (under 165° Ctr) and the chopper is operating in the normal temperature range (under 82° C). Temperature switch TS1 (transformer) or TSW1 (chopper) will open and will cause the LED to illuminate when overheating occurs. So how to understand? It have to illuminate or not?
I check chopper temp switch, it is open, and transformer switch is closed. At 194 pg. you can see that those switches is connected and they are normally closed. This switches goes to REC3 11 and 12 pin. I check this pins and it is closed. I follow this two wires from rec3 11 and 12 pins where they go. They are connected just with transformer and not with chopper. When I disconnect those wires from transformer: transformer light doesn’t illuminates. I try to short chopper temp switch, because it is written that it have to be normally closed. I make it closed, but it don’t change anything.

    As 129 pg. say I measure F1, F2 and F3, they are about 24 VAC; 120 VAC, 240VAC.

Maybe there is some people who have experience with all this and can help my make this plasma work?

    Sorry for bad English,
    Best regards,
    Mark

As always, the best bet for excellent support on Hypertherm plasma cutting systems is to contact Hypertherm's technical service group. Email is: technical.service@hypertherm.com and the nearest service group to you would be our Roosendaal, Nederlands office, phone is: 31 165 596907 .

The Hypertherm HD1070 was the very first Hydefinition class plasma cutter. Since it was built around 25 or more years ago many of the internal components are no longer available, however service and technical support still is. Best regards, Jim Colt Hypertherm
