Default Hypertherm HPR130XD on phase converter?

Can the hpr130xd be run on a phase converter? Is anyone doing this successfully? We currently have a powermax85 and need to get a little better quality (we have done everything we can already with lead in, lead outs, slow down, etc.) but have single phase power. Mfg of the tables all say yes but then there are conflicting answers from hypertherm. We do have other equipment running on phase converters but not plasma so I am really looking for some advise.

    Thanks
    Chris

Hypertherm recommends against using Phase converters with any of their systems. That being said, there are a few people that have had success running these plasma systems on a converter. Generally you will need a converter that has a current rating of approximately double the maximum plasma current draw....this is to accommodate the high inrush current required with the HPR130XD Chopper /Transformer based design. Phase to phase voltage readings must be within about 10% of each other as well....or the phase detection circuit will shut down the output power. Jim Colt Hypertherm
